About me

At ease at sea. Clear in my work.

I am an Italian-Belgian skipper based in Italy. I have sailed for 25 years, from dinghies and the Optimist to yachts, with more than 15,000 nautical miles across the Mediterranean, the English Channel and the North Sea, as well as an Atlantic crossing and time in the Caribbean.

My sailing began at school on an Optimist and other dinghies. It grew through the Centro Velico Caprera and Les Glénans in Brittany, then led me to UKSA in Cowes for my RYA Yachtmaster Offshore training and exam. Cowes holds a special place in yachting history: the first America’s Cup was raced there.

Alongside my humanitarian work, I have kept sailing close. Those two commitments have shaped the same habits: prepare carefully, work well with others and treat every person with respect. At sea I pay particular attention to safe navigation, clear communication and decisions suited to the conditions.

My approach on board is practical and unhurried. I am happy to explain sailing basics and involve guests at their own pace; taking part is always optional. A well-prepared boat, a capable crew and room to enjoy the journey belong together.

SAR

Search and Rescue (SAR)

Since 2021 I have worked in maritime search and rescue, combining my commitment to the sea with humanitarian work. My experience includes RHIB driving, rescue-team leadership and Head of Mission responsibilities. It has reinforced the importance of safe navigation, preparation and teamwork. Seamanship carries a duty to assist people in distress at sea; international maritime law, including SOLAS, reflects that obligation. A photograph from an SAR operation is included in the gallery below.
